Abisso: A Dive into the Depths of Design

The designers drew inspiration from the chasm of the unknown, a place of profound silence and eternal instants. This concept is reflected in the design's unique properties, which express the essence and quality of materials through the expertise and sensibility of artisans. The hand basin body is made using stainless steel, the interior convex molded unit is in Cristalplant, and the wooden top is entirely customizable for dimensions and essences. The collection also includes different sizes of mirrors and accessories, catering to various demands and space limitations.

Abisso is not just about aesthetics; it also offers a unique user experience. All the industrial components are hidden, ensuring a clean and pleasing aesthetic. The series also offers the possibility of having a blue diffuse light under the washbasins and behind the mirror, providing a unique bathroom experience. The furniture pieces are easy to use and clean, thanks to their essential shapes and limited number of components. Everything is removable and replaceable, making it a practical choice for modern homes.

The realization of this design involved a meticulous process. The hand basin body is made using stainless steel, the interior convex molded unit is in Cristalplant Biobased, and the wooden top is fully customizable. All the accessories are made with stainless steel and wood. The design specifications include various sizes of washbasins, columns, drawers, and dressers, catering to different space requirements.

The project started in April 2014 in Marostica (Vi) and was completed in March 2015. It was then exhibited at Fuorisalone in Milan. The design research focused on raw materials and production methods, considering user experience, cleaning operations, and sustainability. The biggest challenge was to achieve high product precision and quality while keeping the production process sustainable and easy to modify or implement.

Abisso was awarded the Golden A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2016. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
